1. Name Your Foundation
This may be the easiest or the hardest part for you because there are so many possibilities. You can name your foundation after your family, charitable purpose, or a mission that inspires you. Some people choose a name that allows them to keep a lower profile. It’s up to you!
2. Submit Simple Questionnaire
We ask some basic information upfront to ensure the entire process is efficient. Questions like: Who will serve on the board of directors? Who will fund the foundation? What type of assets will you contribute? We designed the questionnaire to be quick and easy for you.
3. Start Giving
You can start your foundation with a modest sum and add to it over time, or make a large capital contribution. Every foundation is different and as director, you are in the drivers seat. There are endless opportunities for you to make a difference. You provide the vision and we’ll take care of everything else.
We primarily work with individuals, families and corporations that want to start a foundation. We also can provide management and accounting services for existing foundations.
A private foundation is the best charitable vehicle, but it’s not for everyone. If you have a desire to or already donate more than $50,000 on an annual basis, a foundation may be a great fit for you. We only work with US-based taxpayers.
You can devote as much or as little time as you’d like. Some people choose to make philanthropy their second career. Foundation Launch exists to reduce the work associated with running a foundation. We aim for you to enjoy your giving, regardless of how much time you commit.
You are not alone! Many foundations don’t start with a clear philanthropic vision. As you make grants to different causes, you’ll find out what motivates and excites you. What issues hold your interest? Where are you achieving the most impact? What is personal to you? Ideas may come from a travel experience, documentary or unexpected life event. How much does it cost? How much does it cost?
It may sound cliche, but every foundation is unique and so is the way that we work with the people behind them. We also don’t believe that a foundation is for everyone. As such, we prefer to get to know you and learn about your philanthropic vision before offering any solutions.
